LEVEE BOARD VOTES TO KEEP SUIT

By TONI ELLINGTON

Despite the passage of Senate Bill 469 by the Louisiana legislature and signing of the bill into law by Governor Bobby Jindal, on June 19, 2014, the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East was not able to vote to end its lawsuit against oil and gas companies. The levee board vote was 4-4.

The determination as to whether the lawsuit will continue will likely be made via courts to decide whether to uphold the new law.
