MAJOR CONTRACT ANNOUNCED FOR ST. JAMES PARISH METHANOL COMPLEX

By TONI ELLINGTON

Yuhuang Chemical Inc. has signed a contract with Air Liquide SA Paris to supply oxygen for its methanol manufacturing plant complex which will be constructed along the Mississippi River in St. James Parish, Louisiana.  Methanol is a chemical produced from carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen.  It is also known as methyl alcohol, wood alcohol, or wood spirits. It can be produced by converting natural gas.

The manufacturing complex project is estimated to be worth $1.85 billion.  The St. James Parish complex will convert natural gas to methanol, allowing natural gas producers to utilize abundant natural gas resources in the United States rather than exporting overseas.  The United States imports 6.7 million metric tons of methanol per year, according to the South Louisiana Methanol website, found at www.southlouisianamethanol.com.  The website also contains more detailed information about the project.  Once it is constructed, the South Louisiana Methanol complex will be the largest methanol producing facility in North America.

Yuhuang Chemical Inc. is a subsidiary of Shandong Yuhuang Chemical Co. Ltd., a Chinese company.
