BP’S ATTEMPT TO STOP PAYING CLAIMS FAILS

By TONI ELLINGTON

BP has failed in its efforts to obtain a stay from the U.S. Supreme Court pending the outcome of its Petition for Certiorari which appeals the Fifth Circuit’s ruling that the Settlement Agreement BP entered into requires economic loss claims to be paid without proof of causation.  The Supreme Court denied BP’s request for a stay on June 9, 2014, without comment.

BP’s claims administrator, Lafayette attorney Patrick Juneau, began processing business loss claims after the injunction, which had been in place since December 2013, was lifted.
